Michael S. Welch, Special Agent in Charge of the Indianapolis Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that the Central Indiana InfraGard Chapter has been selected as a 2007 Challenge Award recipient during the InfraGard’s National Congress meeting. This national award is designed to recognize the chapter that met a specific challenge by focusing on the protection of America’s critical infrastructure. In 2006 – 2007, the Central Indiana InfraGard Chapter developed performance metrics that can be adopted nationwide by the other 83 InfraGard Chapters. Additionally, the Central Indiana InfraGard Chapter has been pursuing partnerships with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and other agencies, to improve information sharing and operational capabilities. Mr. Steve Pappas, President of the Central Indiana InfraGard Chapter, thanked the membership by saying, “2007 was an important year for our organization. We look forward to building upon our success in 2008.” InfraGard is a non-profit organization that is affiliated with the FBI and is comprised of individuals in academia, law enforcement, critical infrastructure sectors, business and government who are dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.
