Evansville Man Sentenced for Bank Robbery
INDIANAPOLIS—Ronald W. Komonce, 52, Evansville, Indiana, was sentenced to 151
months in prison late yesterday by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young following his guilty plea
to bank robbery, announced Timothy M. Morrison, United States Attorney for the Southern
District of Indiana. This case was the result of a investigation by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and Evansville Police Department.
On March 13, 2009, Komonce entered the Integra Bank branch located at 1718 North
Fares, Evansville, Indiana, wearing a mask, wig, sunglasses, flannel shirt, and carrying what
appeared to be a silver pistol. Komonce displayed the pistol and demanded money from three
bank tellers. The tellers complied by placing the money in a plastic bag. After obtaining
$13,480, Komonce fled the bank on foot. Witnesses reported a description and route of travel of
the fleeing bank robber. Komonce was tracked down and arrested. After his arrest, Komonce
admitted his involvement in the robbery.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd S. Shellenbarger, who prosecuted the case for
the government, Judge Young also imposed three years supervised release following Komonce’s
release from prison.
