Rockport Man Sentenced For Receipt And
Possession of Child Pornography
EVANSVILLE, IN—Charles D. Citta, 61, Rockport, Indiana, was sentenced to 60 months in
prison last Friday by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young following his guilty plea to one count
of receipt and two counts of possession of child pornography announced Timothy M. Morrison,
United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. This case was the result of an
investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Between January 29, 2008 and June 25, 2008, Citta possessed ten images and one video
depicting sexually explicit conduct on his home computer and a data storage disk. According to
Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd S. Shellenbarger, who prosecuted the case for the government,
Judge Young also imposed supervised release for life following Citta’s release from prison.
During the period of supervised release, Citta must register as a sex offender, participate in a sex
offender treatment program, and must submit to monitoring of his computer use.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to
combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by
the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's
Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal,
state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit
children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about
