PRESS RELEASE

EVANSVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH BANK ROBBERY

Timothy M. Morrison, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, announced that RONALD WILLIAM KOMONCE, 52, of Evansville, Indiana, was charged yesterday with bank robbery, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Evansville Police Department.

The complaint alleges that KOMONCE entered the Integra Bank branch located at 1718 North Fares, Evansville, Indiana, wearing a mask, wig, sunglasses, flannel shirt, and carrying what appeared to be a silver pistol on March 13, 2009. A person allegedly observed KOMONCE throw a bag into a dumpster. The bag contained the bank money. KOMONCE was arrested nearby.

According to Assistant U. S. Attorney Todd S. Shellenbarger, who is prosecuting the case for the government, KOMONCE faces a maximum possible prison sentence of 20 years and a maximum possible fine of $250,000. Following a hearing held on March 30, 2009 before a U.S. Magistrate Judge, KOMONCE was ordered detained at the Henderson County Jail pending disposition of this case.

The criminal complaint is an allegation only, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at trial or by guilty plea.
