TWO FEDERAL PRISONERS CHARGED WITH MURDER OF FELLOW INMATE

PRESS RELEASE

Susan W. Brooks, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, announced that TIMOTHY R. McCALLISTER, 34, and JERIMY C. SNEED, 32, Federal Bureau of Prison inmates, were indicted by a federal grand jury sitting in Indianapolis for First Degree Murder, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The indictment alleges that on August 10, 2005, McCALLISTER and SNEED, unlawfully, willfully, deliberately, and maliciously killed another human being, Rock Halsey, with malice aforethought and with premeditation, by cutting Halsey’s neck with a knife causing him to bleed to death. At the time, Halsey, McCALLISTER, and SNEED were all prisoners at the United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute.

According to Assistant United States Attorney James M. Warden, who is prosecuting the case for the government, McCALLISTER and SNEED both face a maximum possible prison sentence of life without parole.  An initial hearing will be scheduled before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Terre Haute.

The indictment is an allegation only, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at trial or by guilty plea.
