PRINCETON DRUG DEALER GETS 121 MONTH
PRISON SENTENCE

PRESS RELEASE

Susan W. Brooks, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, announced that MICHAEL ARMSTRONG, 26, Princeton, Indiana, was sentenced to 121 months imprisonment today by U.S. District Judge Richard L. Young following his guilty plea to Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine, Cocaine Base (a.k.a. “Crack” Cocaine), and Marijuana. This case was the result of a six month investigation by the DEA, FBI, ATF, the United States Marshal Service and local law enforcement.

In Spring 2006, police launched an investigation into three distinct drug trafficking conspiracies active in Evansville. The cocaine/cocaine base trafficking conspiracy, the methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy, and the marijuana trafficking conspiracy involved individuals procuring controlled substances outside of southern Indiana and then distributing the drugs in the Evansville area. During the six month investigation law enforcement purchased and seized over 500 grams of cocaine base, seized approximately one kilogram of cocaine, seized approximately three pounds of crystal methamphetamine, recovered fifteen firearms, and confiscated over $110,000 cash from members of the conspiracies. The investigation led to the indictment of 44 persons in the Southern District of Indiana.

ARMSTRONG was involved in both the marijuana and cocaine/cocaine base conspiracies. After receiving cocaine, cocaine base, and marijuana from his sources of supply, ARMSTRONG distributed the drugs primarily in the Princeton, Indiana community.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Matthias D. Onderak, who prosecuted the case for the government, Judge Young also imposed 3 years supervised release following ARMSTRONG’s release from imprisonment. During the period of supervised release, ARMSTRONG must undergo drug testing
